TANDARANDAN “Adalgisiana”
(Folkclub Ethnosuoni, July 2007)
New work based on a project about traditional dances from Vara Valley and Lunigiana ( La Spezia and Massa Carrara areas – northwest of Italy).
The band likes to reproduce the original old sound of this repertoire, the line is very very essential: two fiddles to guide the melodies, hurdy- gurdy, organetto and piva (traditional pipe) on duets, guitar and “bassetto” to emphasize the rythm.
Deliberately essential arrangements and time of execution thought on the right duration to dance.
Old dances : “ghiga” , “pivata” , “quadriglia” from Pontremoli area and more “modern” dances : valzer, mazurka, scottische, polka.
The starting track, played with the “pivas”, is a Christmas air named “Pastorella” , still palyed on the “Saint Night” at Rossano di Zeri, small hamlet of Pontremoli.
“Adalgisiana”, that names the cd, is the title of a mazurka by Dario Pietronave, organetto player from Vara Valley, La Spezia, dead ten years ago.
This work is dedicated to all old players like Dario that Tandarandan met along its way, a tribute to their art and to the amusement they gave to generations of dancers.
